Terminally Ill Joey Feek Prepares Dinner for Her Family from Her Hospice Bed: 'Bring the Kitchen to Mama'
The singer, 40, is battling terminal cancer
Joey Feek may be battling terminal cancer, but that doesn’t mean she’s slacking on her chores.
Joey’s husband, Rory Feek, shared a sweet photo of the country singer on Sunday, showing Joey, 40, mixing vegetables in a blender that had been set up over her hospice bed.
“When a mother can’t get to the kitchen to help make her family dinner … you bring the kitchen to mama,” Rory wrote.
It’s been a bittersweet time for the Feek family. In the past week, the couple celebrated a special Valentine’s Day, celebrated daughter Indiana’s second birthday and watched the pre-Grammys celebration together.
The couple, who make up the country band Joey+Rory, were nominated for best country duo/group performance for their song, “If I Needed You.” However, the ultimately lost out to Little Big Town for their country hit, “Girl Crush.”
On Tuesday, following their Grammy loss, Rory wrote in his blog that Joey said she was “sorry we didn’t win us a Grammy.”
“Then jokingly, I added, ‘ there’s always next year,’ ” Rory wrote. She smiled back at me and said, ‘Yes … next year.’ And then she talked about how if we were to ever be nominated again, that I have to promise her that I would go. And I told her that I would. Then her smile widened and she winked and said, ‘And guess what … I’ll know the winner before you do.’ “
