He tied the knot just a week ago in Mexico, but Jason Aldean already has babies on the brain.

The country singer, 38, walked the red carpet for the first time as a newlywed with his wife, Brittany Kerr, 27, at the iHeartRadio Music Awards on Sunday, and he shared the couple’s plans to expand their family.

“In the next couple of years, probably, we definitely want to have kids,” the “Just Gettin’ Started” singer told PEOPLE.

Aldean – who is dad to Keeley, 12, and Kendyl, 7, with ex-wife Jessica Ussery – also mentioned that his children are “pumped” about the idea of having a younger sibling.

“They want a brother, so we’ll see what we can do about that,” he said.

The couple has still managed to fit in time to travel and embrace their new marriage. He popped the question to the American Idol alum back in September 2014.

“I feel like our life is a honeymoon,” Aldean said, adding that they just returned from Europe and have been traveling around the country for his Burn It Down tour.

But in an ideal world with a simpler schedule, the singer would grab his wife and hit the sand and sun. Said Aldean: “Take me to the beach and hang out for the month and I’m good.”
