Go Inside Jake Owen's Way-Too-Fun Nashville Beach Party
DADDY'S LIL' ROADIE
Thousands of fans flocked to Nashville's Music Row on Aug. 18 for Jake Owen's Beach Party, but behind the scenes, the real star was the singer's 21-month-old daughter Pearl. "We were just walking through the crowd saying 'Hey!'" Owen tells PEOPLE Country of this shot. "I love putting Pearly on my shoulders because I know before too much longer she's going to be too big to do that."
READY TO PARTY
"Pearl loves being a part of the action," says Owen. "I just love my little girl so much, she is the light of my life."
THAT'S THE POINT!
"I moved to [Nashville] 10 years ago and I couldn't call one person on the phone because I didn't know anyone. I remember playing at Otter's Chicken Tenders right across the street for 10 people," Owen recalls. "To now be out there with 20,000 people that showed up just to see me play, and sing along … It just shows anything can happen when you put your mind to it."
BUDDIES IN THE BIZ
Surprise guest Lee Brice took the stage to sing "Parking Lot Party." "I met Lee at this little restaurant-bar in Bellevue, Tennessee, almost 10 years ago. He was singing on a bar stool and I just introduced myself and was like, 'God, man, you are so good! Why don't you have a record deal?'" says Owen. "We just hit it off and then all these years later, we're both having success. It took us a long time to get to this point. I jumped on him on stage and just gave him the biggest hug, like, 'This is awesome!'"
"It was a big moment for me," says Owen of the concert. "I'm all about having fun and doing things that show how much I care about my fans. And with schools starting back, the end of summer coming, we needed a good beach party!"
WHAT UP, BRA!
"People know I'm married, but the bras keep coming," says Owen. "And now that I'm married, I know that bras are expensive! I don't understand why girls are throwing $50 bras on stage. I hardly ever know where it's come from either, it just comes flying up and hits me in the head. So we hang 'em up and have a bra tree now."
"You don't even realize how hard that was for me to facilitate – a bunch of drunk people in a photo like that!" says Owen, with wife Lacey and Brice (far left). "There are four or five people in the photo I don't even know! But that's my twin brother Jarrod in the Florida State helmet, which is where we both went to school. It was the cap off to a good night."
