If you didn’t make it to George Strait‘s farewell tour, The Cowboy Rides Away, you can now breathe a huge sigh of relief. It turns out the cowboy didn’t actually ride away, he just rode to Las Vegas!

The singer is heading to Sin City in 2016 for the Strait to Vegas show, he revealed Tuesday. The four announced shows, April 22 and 23, and Sept. 9 and 10, will be held at the brand new Las Vegas Arena. Strait’s fellow Texan, Kacey Musgraves, will open.

“I’m very excited to be coming back out and playing for the fans out there,” Strait, 63, said at the press conference in Vegas.

The Vegas gig gives him the best of both worlds. “I said all along I wasn’t going to tour anymore, but I also said I wasn’t retiring,” said Strait. “I didn’t want to do another structured tour. I can come in here and do a couple of dates then go home for a month and come back and do a couple more.”

And the good news doesn’t end there! The king of country is also releasing new music. His album, Cold Beer Conversation, is out Friday, available exclusively at Walmart and Apple Music. The album’s first single, “Cold Beer Conversation” hits country radio on Wednesday.

Strait, who after more than three decades of performing, completed his final tour last year, admits he just couldn’t stay away from the stage – and he always intended to continue to record and write.

“When I’m sitting in a rocking chair somewhere, just play me a live album so I can hear the crowd again,” Strait added in a video interview shown at the press conference. “That’s what it’s all about.”
