Eric Church and Little Big Town lead with five nominations each – and you won't believe who got shut out

The competition is on!

It was a very good morning for some of Nashville’s biggest stars, who woke up to news they’ve been nominated for a Country Music Association award.

So, who had an extra big smile at the breakfast table? Leading the pack at the CMA Awards this year is Eric Church and Little Big Town, each with five nominations, including a first time Entertainer of the Year nod for Church and album of the year for LBT. Kenny Chesney and Miranda Lambert are next up with four nods each, followed by Sam Hunt, Maddie & Tae, Kacey Musgraves and Chris Stapleton with three a piece.

Luke Bryan, the reigning Entertainer of the Year, will go up against Garth Brooks, Chesney, Church and Lambert to try to bring home the trophy for the night’s biggest award for a second year in a row.
