As the reigning CMA Entertainer of the Year, Luke Bryan is tonight’s defending champion. So how would he feel about taking home the top honor for a second year in a row?

“It would be as amazing as the first one,” Bryan told PEOPLE at the BMI Country Awards in Nashville on Tuesday. “You never take a second for granted and you’re just blessed to be nominated. We’ll see what happens!”

Having wrapped his Farm Tour, Bryan says he’s looking forward to a little rest and relaxation – and of course that favorite hobby of his.

Just what are his plans for the down time? “Being home, going hunting a little bit, taking the boys hunting,” said Bryan. “Spending some time just decompressing and starting to wrap my head around writing some.”

As for the recent photo Bryan, 39, posted on Facebook of him and wife Caroline dressed up in costume as an elderly couple for Halloween, he said he was just being a supportive husband.

“Halloween is Caroline’s plan,” he said. “She plans it for months, the deal is I can’t argue with her, I just have to wear it. It’s her child. It’s her brainchild and I must wear it!”
