It’s safe to say Chris Stapleton is having an amazing night at the CMA Awards.

Nashville declared the singer the best new artist at the show on Wednesday night.

“I don’t know what to say. I’ve worked hard a lot of years to do this,” said Stapleton, 37, while accepting the award. “I want to thank my wife, the best parts of me come from her.”

Despite his music receiving little radio play, Stapleton, a hugely successful songwriter, beat out steep competition from Kelsea Ballerini, Sam Hunt, Thomas Rhett and Maddie & Tae.
