Carrie Underwood Reveals Where She Likes to Leave a 'Ginormous Tip' on Christmas Morning
Carrie Underwood is gearing up to celebrate her first Christmas as a mom, and she’s been busy dreaming up recipes and buying gifts. But she’s also hoping to continue a semi-tradition with her husband Mike Fisher that involves a scattered, smothered and covered holiday.
“Well get up and go to Waffle House,” the Storyteller singer tells PEOPLE Country in the new December issue. “It’s such a hectic time, and I don’t feel like making breakfast on a day that you’re just making so much food anyway. So we order breakfast and leave a ginormous tip.”

When it comes to Thanksgiving, Underwood – who shares some of her favorite vegan holiday recipes in the new issue – loves to do her own cooking for the “big mish-mash of people” who are drawn to her Tennessee home every year.
“I might tell somebody, ‘Bring a salad!’ But I do a lot of prep work the night before,” she says. “I literally chop all my onions, everything, and I’ll have them in little baggies that are labeled in the fridge. I get a lot ready.”
As for shopping for her 9-month-old son Isaiah, “I feel there’s a lot of Christmas that has kind of gotten lost,” she says. “[Mike and I] have talked about not wanting to spoil our kids. We want it to be more about the family and the fun times.”
