On Tuesday, Britney Spears and her brother Bryan popped up in Nashville, Tennessee, to give their little sister Jamie Lynn the surprise of a lifetime.
Just as Jamie Lynn thought she was about to perform at the Grand Ole Opry, Britney and Bryan were brought on stage to introduce her. Britney, 34, lit up with a big smile as she stepped into the spotlight donning a svelte black dress.
“Thanks to the Opry for letting me introduce this beautiful young lady who is my heart and my soul,” said the pop star, grasping the microphone. “Not only is she beautiful and extremely talented, but she’s my little sister: Jamie Lynn Spears!”
No more words were needed when the siblings embraced each other. As the crowd cheered on, Jamie Lynn was sent into a fit of tears.
“I can’t believe that my whole family kept this secret from me,” said Jamie Lynn, 24, who wiped her face with a tissue. “Well, now I’m gonna try to sing some songs for y’all.”
She continued: “I’m so honored to be at the Opry, but I’m even more honored to be here with all the people that I love the most.”
Jamie Lynn later opened up about the sweet gesture on Instagram, writing, “Best surprise ever at the most special place ever. So blessed. Thanks to my family, @britneyspears and thanks to the @opry.”
To pull off the feat, Britney waited until after the big moment to post a special Instagram of her and Bryan. “Before we surprised @jamielynnspears tonight!! So proud of our baby sister.”
And Britney later shared a sisters-only snap, writing, “My baby sister.”
Jamie Lynn has carved out a respectable career in country music in recent years. In addition to releasing her own songs, she co-wrote Jana Kramer‘s hit “I Got the Boy,” which became a single in 2015 and has since been certified gold by the Recording Industry Association of America.
Throughout her rise to country stardom, she’s kept in touch with her family roots. In November, Jamie Lynn and daughter Maddie, 7, spent Thanksgiving with the Spears squad, including Britney and Bryan.
She’s also tough – last year, security footage from a restaurant in her home state of Louisiana showed Jamie Lynn breaking up a fight while wielding a knife.
