When Blake Shelton took to the stage at the iHeartRadio festival in Las Vegas, something that must have felt great. It must have felt, well, normal.

“It’s been a weird year,” he told reporters before his performance, “but at least I got my songs coming out.”

During his 25-minute set, Shelton plowed through his hits and made no mention of his newly single life. (Shelton and wife Miranda Lambert announced they were divorcing in July after four years of marriage.) He did, however, talk about one of his favorite hobbies: drinking.

“They told me I was playing this iHeart music festival and I thought, ‘That’s pretty cool. I’ll go do that. That would be fun, right?’ ” he told the crowd. “I never actually know what I’m doing until I get here and I’m like, backstage doing some interview and I’m like, ‘Who’s that on stage?’ That’s J. Lo. What the eff? What am I doing here?”

His response? Drink more.

“So then, I just want y’all to know, I got nervous and I’m still nervous right now, and when I get nervous I tend to drink a little bit, okay,” he said, raising a red Solo cup. “I’m just being honest with you.”

Shelton had previously has previously talked about being nervous (and drinking) onstage. In July, when he performed in his first post-split concert at Country Jam USA in Wisconsin, the singer echoed the same sentiment.

“I’m nervous tonight and I tend to drink when I get nervous,” Shelton told the crowd at the time.

Meanwhile, Lambert was busy performing at a concert of her own on Saturday night. The “Little Red Wagon” singer performed in Luckenbach, Texas, for a special event for MuttNation Foundation.
