See what got the exes all a-Twitter
After 10 years together, country superstars Blake Shelton and Miranda Lambert are calling it quits. Subscribe now for an inside look into their shocking split, only in PEOPLE.
When one of country music’s most beloved couples – Blake Shelton and Miranda Lambert – called it quits on Monday, sources said the stars were left “sad” and “devastated.” But one quick glance at Twitter makes clear that despite any pain, there is no animosity between the two – in fact, there’s a shared sense of humor.
On Friday, Shelton took to social media to share his love for fellow country singer Ashley Monroe‘s new album, The Blade. Released Friday, the “Sangria” singer turned to ex-wife Lambert to show some support for the record and help their close friend. He Tweeted, “Hey @mirandalambert can u believe there’s people who haven’t bought @ashleymonroe new album? Isn’t that shocking?!!”
Minutes later, Lambert, 31, responded: “no I can’t because it is the best work she has ever done! I love it! We love you! @ashleymonroe”
On Wednesday night, Lambert, in her first public outing since she and Shelton announced their divorce, made a surprise appearance in Nashville to support her former Pistol Annies bandmate. The two took the stage at The Basement in East Nashville to sing “Heart like Mine,” a song they co-wrote with Travis Howard.
And lest anyone think that the Tweets were pre-set (which one fan alleged), Shelton, 39, confirmed that the Tweets were happening in real time.
The couple continued the back and forth, with Lambert sharing a photo from Entertainment Tonight of Shelton jokingly pushing a baby stroller to his car on the set of The Voice Wednesday. “I knew it…. You WERE pregnant,” she Tweeted at her ex. “This calls for a drink!” Shelton replied, “Ha!!!!! Busted… I wasn’t JUST a fat ass. Drinking shall now begin ”
