After 10 years together, country superstars Blake Shelton and Miranda Lambert are calling it quits. Subscribe now for an inside look into their shocking split, only in PEOPLE.

Chris Young is setting the record straight.

On Tuesday, he released a statement on Twitter regarding Blake Shelton and Miranda Lambert‘s recent divorce.

“I don’t normally address gossip but in this case I will. My name has been mentioned as a contributing factor in Blake and Miranda’s divorce. That is totally FALSE,” Young, 30, who opened for Lambert on her On Fire tour in 2012, wrote in his post addressing Internet rumors about his involvement in the beloved couple’s split.

“They are both my friends and I would not betray that friendship. Just wanted to clear that up.”

Lambert, 31, and Shelton, 39, stunned fans on Monday when they released a joint statement confirming they had parted ways after four years of marriage.

“This is not the future we envisioned,” the pair said in a statement to the Associated Press on Monday. “And it is with heavy hearts that we move forward separately. We are real people, with real lives, with real families, friends and colleagues. Therefore, we kindly ask for privacy and compassion concerning this very personal matter.”
