Selena Gomez Says “It’s Too Much Pressure” to Hide Relationship
Selena Gomez says she’s in a good place in her life focusing on her health, co-producing hit shows like 13 Reasons Why, releasing new music and having fun in her budding romance with boyfriend The Weeknd.
While other stars go to great lengths to keep their Hollywood relationships out of sight, fans have been able to keep up with Selena and The Weeknd’s lovefest. The couple has been unafraid when it comes to packing on the PDA while out in public, while making major red carpet appearances together or posting on their Instagram pages.
Now, Gomez is revealing exactly why she’s choosing to be in the open with her relationship. “It’s really hard when I would want to spend so much time hiding things,” she said in an interview with On Air With Ryan Seacrest.
The “Bad Liar” singer explained a little further saying, “It’s too much pressure, and I think everyone gets over everything eventually… I just want to be happy. If that’s me just being myself, then I don’t really care.”
And in case you were wondering if Gomez calls her boyfriend The Weeknd or by his real name Abel, she politely corrected host Ryan Seacrest who referred to him by his stage name. “Abel,” she said correcting Seacrest.

This isn’t the 24-year-old’s first high-profile relationship. She dated Justin Bieber on-and-off from 2011 to 2015 but kept private about their relationship status. Back in January was the first time that Gomez and The Weeknd were spotted cuddling together in Los Angeles. Since then, the inseparable pair have been traveling together for the “Starboy” singer’s world tour, taking selfies at Coachella and smooching for the cameras at the 2017 Met Gala.
