The third season of Narcos is here, and according to the cast, the first episode will leave you wanting more. “It has a strong and very raw scene,” said Miguel Ángel Silvestre to People en Español. “It seems like [it wasn’t] real, but it was. When I read [the script], I got a big surprise.”

Arturo Castro was also left in shock. “The final scene of the first episode is one of the best I’ve seen,” said the Guatemalan actor, who plays David Rodriguez in the Netflix series. “In order to protect his father, murder doesn’t matter.”

After the death of Pablo Escobar, the new season of Narcos focuses on the ruthless Cali Cartel – led by Gilberto Rodríguez Orejuela. “The story of Cali [Cartel] is very interesting because I knew less of what went down. [They] were the kings of the cocaine industry, they had more money and more power than Escobar,” said actor Pedro Pascal, who plays DEA agent Javier Peña. “In the third season [my character] is in a new position with different responsibilities.”

As attention shifts to a new group of drug traffickers—and new characters join the series—some familiar faces continue to be a part of the action. Among the featured actors this season: Miguel Angel Silvestre, Javier Cámara, Alberto Ammann and Pepe Rapazote. “[They] are fascinating characters,” says Cámara, who will play Guillermo Pallomari, the accountant for the Cali Cartel. “Intelligence with evil always draws lots of attention.”
