Beauty, mythology, glamour—on ice! If you think Victoria’s Secret has the biggest, most impressive intimates fashion show on earth, perhaps you should think again.
Italian brand Intimissimi takes their presentations to a whole new level by showcasing their pieces during an elaborate ice-skating show titled “Intimissimi on Ice: A Legend of Beauty.” For the fourth consecutive year, they hired some of the world’s most renowned ice skaters, such as Meryl Davis and Meagan Duhamel, to model several of their intimate designs during a breathtaking show.
This year, the exhibit was held in Italy’s Arena di Verona. The costumes and luxury undergarments were created by Chiara Ferragni, blogger of The Blonde Salad. Earlier this year, Ferragni told InStyle that her inspiration stemmed from legendary Greek women, such as Aphrodite, Daphne and Athena. “For each character I wrote down some more specific features and I looked for costumes that would match their values and personalities.”
On the nights of October 6th and 7th, Olympic figure skaters performed beautifully choreographed routines to the powerful vocals of opera legend Andrea Bocelli.
“In my career, the Arena always had a place in my heart, a lovely memory and a special affection,” the world-renowned singer wrote in a nostalgic Instagram post. He also expressed his gratitude to Intimissimi for inviting him to perform in the ancient amphitheater that has mesmerized millions for 2,000 years.
A-listers, such as Katie Holmes and Irina Shayk, attended the spectacular event. The elegant lingerie brand called the presentation a tribute to women, talent and beauty. “Femininity is [our] inspirational muse,” the company stated on their website.
Tales about the great Helen of Troy, Orpheus and Eurydice’s immortal love, and enticing Greek Nymphs were told through dance and music as the skaters moved in layers of colorful tulle between beams of light under the dark night sky. The female skaters donned sheer romantic costumes under which they wore several of Intimissimi’s sexy pieces. The men wore complimentary slick black suits, and helped bring the myths to life.
The brand currently has over 500 stores in Italy, over 1,300 worldwide. In 2018, they’re set to open 30 stores in the United States, according to a recent W report.
