Grandson gives grandma Xbox for Christmas, but she ends up loving it so much she skips church to keep playing and hasn't stopped.
When you think of gifts for grandma, usually jewelry or home goods come to mind. But one South Florida singer opted for a more memorable gift this holiday season.
As a prank, Jon Aro gave his abuelita an Xbox gaming system for Christmas, but grandma got the last laugh: “I got my grandma an Xbox one as a joke on Christmas and now she’s been playing for 3 days straight and I can’t get her to stop,” he tweeted on Dec. 29 with a photo that captured her planted in front of the television with a headset, controller and fierce determination.
His hilarious follow-up tweet showed the extent of her mania: “Someone please help she skipped church to play Minecraft,” he wrote. His followers riffed off the joke, with one tweeting: “You can build a church in Minecraft,” and another adding: “Sounds like good priorities to me.”
Aro’s tweets went viral, garnering over 31k retweets and 79k Likes, proving the Twitterverse fell in love with the elderly gamer. Some even chimed in with some tips tailor-made for granny: “Please make sure she’s properly hydrated and takes a break every hour or so to get up and walk around!” one person advised.
Next Christmas, GameStop is the only place to shop for this Grandma — and that’s no joke.
