For Becky G, 2017 has been an exciting year. On Dec. 11, her hit music video “Mayores” outpaced Taylor Swift’s “Look What You Made Me Do” in YouTube views and climbed to No. 3 on the Billboard Hot Latin Songs chart. She also saw herself on the silver screen with a starring role in the big budget Power Rangers movie, which premiered in March.

Key to helping her navigate new levels of stardom: her yearlong relationship with Argentinian soccer player Sebastian Lletget. On Dec. 18, the singer told E! News: “When you have someone that is your best friend, your family, your lover, your homie and all in one, it’s like, ‘Wow.’ You don’t have to think about it, it doesn’t take much effort, you know what I mean? It’s just that support and it feels really beautiful.”

The 20-year-old Mexican-American artist also gushed about the Los Angeles Galaxy star Dec. 15 on Entertainment Tonight: “It feels like [we’re soulmates]… I’m not lying when I say that. I feel like there’s something really special.” The matchmaker was Becky’s Power Rangers costar Naomi Scott, who introduced the pair in June of 2016.

According to the singer, success hasn’t been an obstacle to love. “Relationships do take effort. He’s an athlete. I’m traveling and touring all the time. We’re both super busy, but when you don’t even have to think twice, you don’t have to doubt your relationship with someone and you can just be who you are and be inspired by that person to be better, that is something really beautiful, and I have never really experienced that before,” she added. Engagement and marriage are on her mind, she admitted. “It wouldn’t happen this year, no. But I would say ‘Yes,’ of course,” she said. “A day at a time.”

For now, she is focused on enjoying their passionate romance, which has had a positive effect on her eating habits, she confessed: “I’ve never wanted to be this healthy in my life. I think he really showed me the difference between goals and standards for yourself as a person. I still have tacos and French fries and stuff like that, but he inspires me not to have as many, and I think that says a lot about him and who he is to my life, because there’s not a lot of people that can make me not eat French fries the way I used to!”
