Zayn Malik has made his TV debut as a solo recording artist, and even premiered a brand new song.

The former One Direction member performed “It’s You” on The Tonight Show Wednesday.

Still sporting pink highlighted tips, Malik, 23, belted out the lyrics of his soon-to-be second single, “I won’t, I won’t, I won’t / Cover the scar / I’ll let it be / So my silence / So my silence won’t / Be mistaken for believing / Am I wrong for wanting us to make it?”

Malik previously revealed that “It’s You” is all about his split from ex-fiancée Perrie Edwards. “I just felt like I needed to put myself out there on that just because it was a form of therapy for me and it did help get me through some s—,” he said during an interview with Zane Lowe on Beats 1.

In addition, fans were treated to a first look of the cover art of Malik’s album Mind of Mine when late night host Jimmy Fallon revealed it at the beginning of the program.

The artwork features a baby photo of the British crooner with the toddler’s arms tattooed, very reminiscent of Lil Wayne‘s Tha Carter III album.

Mind of Mine is slated to be released on March 25, which so happens to be the one year anniversary since he announced his exit from 1D.
