One Direction 'Really Worried' About Zayn Malik, Says Source: 'They Don't Want Him to Quit'
"Louis [Tomlinson] is the closest to him and is the most worried," a source tells PEOPLE
Set to perform in the Philippines this weekend without him, “the rest of the guys are really worried about him but disappointed he’s not there,” a source close to the band tells PEOPLE. “Their main concern is they want him to get better.”
Adds our source: “They don’t want him to quit. Louis [Tomlinson] is the closest to him and is the most worried.”
Though Malik, 22, is the one who “struggles dealing with being in the spotlight the most,” as a source previously revealed to PEOPLE, he reached his limit on Wednesday, when photos of him looking close to a female fan hit the Internet.
The singer has been engaged to Perrie Edwards of Little Mix since 2013, and the media accusations of cheating caused him to “explode,” said the source on Thursday. “He’s had enough of the constant craziness.”
Payne, 21, later posted an Instagram video of Niall Horan, the band’s resident Irishman, in an old-man getup speaking in an accent so thick it sounded near to gibberish for anyone not from Mullingar. The caption read: “This should lighten the mood.”
Editor’s note: A previous version of this post contained information from an Instagram account purporting to belong to Malik’s younger sister, Safaa. A rep for One Direction confirms to PEOPLE that the account was a fake, and the information has been removed.
