Zac Efron: Inside His Romance With Sami Miré

"Zac likes to have a girlfriend," a source tells PEOPLE, but isn't ready to get serious

Zac Efron began stepping out with a new woman last month. But is the High School Musical star-turned-hunk going to get serious with Sami Miré?

“Zac likes to have a girlfriend, someone to do things with,” says an entertainment source close to the actor. But he’s not in settling-down mode: “It’s not worth getting excited about at this point,” the source adds of the relationship.

Efron and Miré – who, according to her LinkedIn profile, works in business development and fashion in L.A. – have been out and about together in Europe, documenting their getaway in Sweden and Denmark via selfies on social media.

The heartthrob celebrated his 27th birthday in Amsterdam Saturday with DJ pals Martin Garrix and Dillon Francis and, E! reported, Miré.

The rumored couple were photographed at the airport in Amsterdam before flying out Tuesday. Just the day before, Efron posted a picture with a friend and cozied up to Miré. And a week before, the pair dined at Copenhagen hotstpot Noma.

The actor has yet to talk about the budding relationship, but Miré – who speaks French, was a Junior Olympic state champion in 2000 and earned her master’s degree in global entrepreneurship and management from the University of San Francisco – just may be his type.

“Zac likes outspoken, independent women who challenge him,” the source says.

Efron and Miré were first spotted out publicly with Sept. 15 on a double date with Dylan Penn and another man in Santa Monica. A week later, the pair was photographed getting cozy at a Dodgers game.

The actor was last linked to Michelle Rodriguez, with whom he shared a two-month summer fling spent mostly in Europe.
