In another setback for the New York Yankees, team manager Joe Torre — who has seen the Yanks to World Series championships twice in his three seasons with them — announced Wednesday that he has prostate cancer. “I feel fine and am looking forward to taking care of the problem,” Torre, 58, said in a statement. Torre will leave the team for an unspecified amount of time, perhaps only a week or two if moderate treatment is required, perhaps a month or more if surgery is required. “Joe Torre will come out of this like a champion,” said team owner George Steinbrenner. The Yankees have yet to name a replacement for Torre.
