Wynonna Judd's 'Simple and Sweet' Wedding Plans
The nuptials will be held in the fall, as that season "isn't a sweaty time for brides" she jokingly tells PEOPLE
Wynonna Judd is gearing up for her wedding – but fans expecting a Kardashian-esque ceremony will be disappointed.
The country star, who got engaged to fellow musician Cactus Moser on Christmas Eve, says the theme of the ceremony will be “barefoot and just fun.”
“I’ve been to so many events and done so many push-up bras and sparkles and hairspray,” Judd, 47, tells PEOPLE at the Steve Chase Humanitarian Awards in Palm Springs Saturday.
“I just want to be free and have fun,” she says. “So I don’t know. Something simple and sweet.”
Judd, who lost more than 50 lbs. after a series of health scares in 2010, still describes herself as “a work in progress.” But, she says, her focus right now is on the present and the future.
“It’s time for me to stop the car, take out the map and see where I’m headed,” she explains. “So I’m just gonna live and enjoy every day being engaged and getting married.”
The wedding will take place on Judd’s farm in the fall because, as she puts it, “it’s not a sweaty time for brides.”
Of Moser, she tells PEOPLE: “We’ve known each other 25 years and I’m living proof that there’s hope.”
