Woody: Up in Smoke

It’s now back to court for Woody Harrelson, 38, in his ongoing battle to legalize hemp. The actor and hemp activist — who is pushing for public acceptance of hemp clothing and hemp-produced paper products — purposely planted four hemp seeds in 1996 in order to test a state law outlawing possession of any part of the cannabis plant. Harrelson maintains that the seeds would have produced hemp, not pot. If convicted, the “Play It to the Bone” star faces a misdemeanor charge, which carries with it a potential fine. He is not expected to serve a prolonged jail sentence.
