Wilder Battling Cancer

Actor Gene Wilder is being treated for cancer at Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in Manhattan, reports the Associated Press. Wilder, 64, lost his wife Gilda Radner to ovarian cancer in 1989. The hospital confirmed on Friday that Wilder is being treated for lymphoma, which was first diagnosed last year. Following the death of Radner, Wilder opened Gilda’s Club in Manhattan, which supports cancer patients and their families. The Oscar-nominated actor (“The Producers”), perhaps best known for his role in 1974’s “Blazing Saddles,” has since remarried. (His “Saddles” costar Madeline Kahn, died of ovarian cancer last November.) More recently, Wilder cowrote and starred in A&E’s TV movie “The Lady in Question.”
