What happened in Vegas didn’t stay there this week, much to the chagrin of Steve Wynn and Ben Affleck.

Among the five PEOPLE.com stories that got the strongest reactions from readers this week were two from Sin City – first, George Clooney‘s epic takedown of Wynn following their argument in Vegas last month; and second, a Vegas casino’s banning of Ben Affleck from the blackjack table after his winnings got a little out of hand.

Also pushing readers’ buttons this week: a murder trial, a celebrity’s new hairstyle and one of the scariest sea creatures you’ve ever seen.

George Clooney can certainly dish it out when he feels aggrieved. The actor has been in a war of words with Las Vegas casino owner Steve Wynn after the Wynn alleged called President Obama an “a——” at a private dinner last month. This week, Clooney ripped Wynn’s denials about the insult in a statement to PEOPLE. The whole thing is worth a read, though the best zinger is when Clooney says Wynn “needs to take off his red sparkly dinner jacket and roll up his sleeves every once in a while and understand what most of the country is actually dealing with.”

Oh my goodness, what is it?! That was the astonished and/or terrified reaction many readers had to this crazy-looking sea beast that was caught in the Gulf of Mexico this well. Turns out it’s a rare “goblin shark” – only the second of its kind ever spotted in those waters. “Man, he’s ugly! Looks prehistoric to me,” the fisherman who reeled in the monster told CNN. So, is it safe to go back in the water yet?

Provoking the most anger among PEOPLE readers this week was the trial of Julie Schenecker, who stands accused of killing her two teenage children in 2011. Prosecutors read from her chilling diary on Monday. “I was planning a Saturday massacre,” Schenecker wrote, “but had to wait on the waiting period I offed Beau on the way to practice. There was a shot to his mouth, because he became so mouthy, just like Calyx. Calyx drove me to drink.”

What was he thinking?! That was the reaction many readers had to Adam Levine‘s new bleach blond hairstyle. “Apocalypse prep course complete,” The Voice coach and PEOPLE’s reigning Sexiest Man Alive said next to a Twitter photo of his new ‘do. Indeed, to many readers, it felt a little like the end of the world.

“We have to stop you because you’re too good.” Those were the words of security to Ben Affleck at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas on Tuesday night, a source tells PEOPLE, as the actor-director was banned from the blackjack tables – after hauling in just a bit too much cash. The hotel didn’t kick him out entirely, saying Affleck “is not banned from our property and is welcome back any time.”
