BABY CRUISE: Tom Cruise‘s fiancée, Katie Holmes, is pregnant with the couple’s child, Cruise’s spokesperson, Lee Anne DeVette, told PEOPLE exclusively this week. “Tom and Katie are very excited, and the entire family is very excited,” said DeVette. She added that no wedding date has been set and would not comment on the baby’s gender or say how far along the pregnancy is. The rep did say that Holmes, 26, “has never felt better.” Cruise, 43, is currently shooting Mission: Impossible 3 in Los Angeles. He has two adopted children, Connor, 10, and Isabella, 12, with ex-wife Nicole Kidman.

LINDSAY’S SMASHUP: Lindsay Lohan, 19, and an unidentified female passenger suffered minor injuries after the actress’s black Mercedes-Benz convertible crashed into a Chevrolet Astro van on a busy street near the Beverly Center shopping complex in West Hollywood Tuesday. The driver of the van – identified by TV’s Access Hollywood as Raymundo Ortega, 40, a busboy at a Beverly Hills eatery – made a U-turn in front of Lohan, Steve Whitmore, a spokesman for the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, told the Associated Press. As for Lohan, he said: “She happens to be an innocent victim in all of this. The paparazzi, as far as we can tell, have nothing to do in terms of the accident.”

PARIS’S PARIS: Calling Paris Hilton “the most incredible woman I have ever met,” Paris Latsis said on Monday that he respects the heiress’s decision to break off their engagement. “I love Paris very much,” Latsis said in a statement made through a rep for Hilton. “This was the best experience of my life. And I will always be grateful for it.” Hilton called off her wedding to her Greek shipping heir boyfriend just four months after he had popped the question. “She feels that she’s young and she wants to make sure it’s right,” actress Kyle Richards, Hilton’s aunt, told PEOPLE. “She didn’t want to make a mistake with the whole world watching.”

SUPER BABY: Nicolas Cage, 41, and his wife, Alice, 21, welcomed to Earth, Kal-el Coppola Cage this week. The son of the Oscar-winning actor and his third wife was named after the comic book hero Superman?s moniker on his native planet, Krypton. What led to the choice? Cage wouldn?t say, though he once owned an original copy of the 1938 Action Comic that introduced Superman, and he was slated to play the Man of Steel in a Tim Burton film in the 1990s before the project fell through. (The name Coppola, however, is Cage’s family name.) As for the new super trio: Cage’s rep says: “Alice is very, very happy, and the three are doing extremely well.”

PITT STOP: The Beverly Hills love nest that Jennifer Aniston and Brad Pitt called home went on the block – for $28 million – it was reported on Sunday, which happened to be the same day that the 4 1/2-year union of the actors was officially dissolved. The more than 10,000-sq.ft French Normandy house was purchased by the Pitts in 2001 for about $13.5 million. They spent two years refurbishing it and are now selling it as part of their divorce settlement. Pitt and Aniston, who occupied the home for not even two years, have since moved on to separate residences in Malibu. Meanwhile, Pitt and his new partner, Angelina Jolie, have been getting cozier. The two have been spending time on the set of Pitt’s new movie, The Assassination of Jesse James, with Jolie?s kids, Maddox, 4, and Zahara, 9 months. And it appears that Pitt’s relatives are giving Jolie the thumbs-up. “We’ve met Angelina, and my family really, really likes her,” said Pitt’s brother, Doug. ?She’s great.” Doug, however, means no disrespect to Pitt’s ex. “Of course,” he added, “we liked Jen too.”
