WEEK IN REVIEW: Britney Takes Her Son Home
Plus: Aniston ready to date, Denise wears Charlie?s ring, and more
BABY LOVE: Britney Spears and Kevin Federline‘s new bundle of joy, Sean Preston Federline, is now safe at home in his new Malibu nursery, PEOPLE reported. Britney’s scheduled Sept. 15 C-section was moved up a day after she began experiencing early contractions. Federline was at her side when Spears, 23, was wheeled into the operating room. Both parents were crying when the baby was born (weighing in at 6 lbs. 11 oz.), and Federline, 27, who held his wife’s hand throughout the operation, “was very affectionate toward her,” said a source. After the delivery, the new mother was moved to the maternity ward’s VIP suite, where, the source also said, “The baby never once left her side.” Now home in Malibu, baby Sean has a brand-new nursery in Mom and Dad’s just-renovated, 9,000-sq.-ft. crib.
ANISTON’S ANSWERS: In her first TV interview since her marital breakup with Brad Pitt in January, Jennifer Aniston – saying, “I am doing well” – told Oprah Winfrey after being asked what she is most looking forward to as he gets on with her life: “I love the unknown. I love the discovery of what will be happening and just kind of sitting back and not knowing.” Aniston, 36, also discussed topics ranging from staying in shape (“I’m doing the yoga thing”) to living alone (“it’s pretty fantastic”). As for the million-dollar question, “Are ready to start the whole dating thing again?” Aniston responded with an emphatic nod and said, “Yeah!” She also denied rumors that she didn’t want to have children. “Do I want babies? Yes I do. I do,” she said.
DENISE’S RING: Just as Charlie Sheen publicly said that he and his estranged wife Denise Richards are “working toward getting back together,” Richards was spotted again sporting a ring on her wedding finger. A rep for Richards had no comment about the couple’s status, but a source told PEOPLE that the pair have been spending more time together and with their daughters Sam, 1, and Lola, 4 months. Sheen, who appeared on Late Show With David Letterman Sept. 15, said the couple are working on their marriage.
KENNY?S CONFLICT: Kenny Chesney spoke out about his split with actress Ren e Zellweger, saying a busy schedule contributed to the marriage’s demise. “I had the biggest tour I’ve ever done, I had a record to finish that was real important to me, and, of course, I had something new in my personal life, and I was trying to do that, too,” Chesney told Country Weekly. “It really ended up being too much. At some point, I just got exhausted.” Last week Zellweger, Chesney’s wife of four months, filed for an annulment.
STEWART SLUMP: Martha Stewart fizzled in the ratings when her much-ballyhooed new NBC reality show The Apprentice: Martha Stewart debuted Wednesday night. The show attracted only 7.1 million viewers – about half the audience that tuned into Donald Trump‘s lackluster third season of his Apprentice last spring and a far distant second to her ABC competition on Wednesday (a Lost special that drew 15.3 million). Worse, only 3.2 million viewers in the desired 18-49-year-old age group tuned into Apprentice: Martha, said Nielsen Media Research. The dismal numbers sent shares of Martha Stewart Living tumbling six percent in trading Thursday, reported the Wall Street Journal.
