Highlights: Recognized for her contributions to music education, Carey could probably teach a seminar called Career Resurrection 101. And Mimi will be in good company: Bill and Hillary Clintonwill also be recognized at the 10th anniversary gala for the VH1 Save the Music Foundation. Apart from Mayer, Jon Bon Jovi and Roger Waters are also slotted to perform.

Highlights: He’s already picked up an award at the Venice Film Festival for his low-key performance in the Western. And advance buzz has been positive. So, expect Pitt (and Angelina Jolie?) to supply plenty of red carpet glamour at the New York premiere. The film hits theaters Sept. 21.
What: Reba McEntire‘s 31st album – and it’s packed with celebrity guests like Kelly Clarkson and Justin Timberlake
When: In stores Sept. 18
Highlights: Clarkson and McEntire duet on the soaring “Because of You” while Timberlake and the country legend share vocals on “The Only Promise That Remains.” Early listens suggest this is not “SexyBack” for the country set. PEOPLE’s critic Randy Vest describes the song as “a gentle, strikingly simple duet.”
What: Mary-Kate Olsen makes her first guest appearance on Showtime’s hit show (she’s on for 10 episodes)
When: Sept. 17, 10 p.m. ET on Showtime
Highlights: Olsen plays a “good Christian girl” named Tara who just so happens to be fond of marijuana. In her return to television, Olsen takes on her first truly adult role. The blogs are already buzzing about her performance in this YouTube clip.
