The romantic comedy “The Wedding Planner,” starring Jennifer Lopez and Matthew McConaughey, ousted two-week box-office champ “Save the Last Dance” from the No. 1 spot. The female-friendly film was just one of many giving movie theaters a boost in attendance from last year’s Super Bowl weekend numbers, say industry observers. A strong weekend for comedy debuts, “Sugar and Spice,” about a band of cheerleaders who become a gang of bank robbers, cartwheeled its way into the No. 5 slot. And decidedly different “Snatch,” a comedic action movie directed by Guy Ritchie (Madonna’s new husband, in case you hadn’t heard) and starring Brad Pitt, and “Finding Forrester,” a sensitive drama starring Sir Sean Connery, tied for the No. 7 slots. The weekend’s Top 10, according to studio estimates:

1. “The Wedding Planner,” $14 million
2. “Save the Last Dance,” $10 million
3. “Cast Away,” $8.93 million
4. “Traffic,” $6.48 million
5. “Sugar & Spice,” $6.02 million
6. “Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon,” $5.07 million
7. (tie) “Snatch,” $4.8 million
7. (tie) “Finding Forrester,” $4.8 million
8. “What Women Want,” $4.3 million
9. “Miss Congeniality,” $3.96 million
10. “Thirteen Days,” $3.73 million
