'Weakest Link' Makes Mark

Riding high on the latest Nielsen ratings charts, “Weakest Link” is, not surprisingly, NBC’s new darling. The Hollywood Reporter says that the network has ordered an additional 13 episodes of the hit quiz show hosted by Anne Robinson. On top of that, reports the trade paper, NBC is looking into plans to launch a syndicated version of the show early next year. Meanwhile, The New York Times reports that NBC is aggressively bidding on the latest BBC offering, “Dog Eat Dog,” described as a “Survivor”-style elimination contest featuring physical and mental challenges. In addition, ABC and others are also taking a look at another British-inspired show. Over here, says the Hollywood reporter, it would be called “Challenge America” and hosted by Erin Brockovich. Its premise is to send contestants on a mission to complete a charitable or socially beneficial task in a short period of time. The Top 10 for the week of April 16-22:
