She didn’t use her famous line – “You are the weakest link” – but Anne Robinson is saying “goodbye” to her marriage of 27 years.
The British host of NBC’s The Weakest Link, famous for her acerbic wit on the popular game show, has parted on amicable terms with her husband, John Penrose, who until recently acted as her manager.
“We have been an enormously important part of each other’s lives for a very long time and our friendship will carry on forever,” said Robinson, 63, in a statement.
Robinson is reported to be parting with half of her $120 million dollar fortune in the divorce deal. A spokesperson for the couple said: “There is no-one else involved … Anne and John have reached an amicable settlement on all financial issues.”
She will continue to divide her time between her homes in New York, London and Gloucestershire. The couple have no children but Robinson has one daughter, Emma, from a previous marriage.
Robinson’s famous line, “You are the weakest link – Goodbye!” is part of the show’s successful format which has been sold to 46 countries.
