Wayne Newton Poised to Dance with the Stars
The Las Vegas icon will swing into the contest when the series returns Sept. 24
Expect a taste of Vegas when Dancing with the Stars tangos back in the fall.
Sin City icon Wayne Newton reportedly is set to shimmy, shake and slide on the show’s new season, according to Entertainment Weekly.
ABC has yet to announce the reality show’s official roster, and the network declined comment on the report of Newton’s participation.
Judge Carrie Ann Inaba and fourth-season winner Apolo Ohno are slated to announce the next lineup on Aug. 29’s Good Morning America.
The new season of Dancing with the Stars is scheduled to debut Sept. 24.
Having performed as a child for President Truman, the Virginia-born Newton, 65, still tours with the USO and makes regular appearances in his Las Vegas hometown, where he’s performed for more than 40 years and has a street named in his honor.
The entertainer will follow the perma-tanned trail previously blazed by the footprints of such Dancing with the Stars alumni as John O’Hurley and George Hamilton.
