Celebrity Waffle House Urges Boycott of Belgian Waffles During World Cup "We support America," the chain said By Alex Heigl Published on July 1, 2014 11:30 AM Share Tweet Pin Email Photo: Courtesy Waffle House World Cup fever has gripped the U.S., reaching into even the isolated heart of regional waffle chain Waffle House: The primarily Southern restaurant group has launched a campaign to boycott Belgian waffles as the U.S. prepares to play Belgium Tuesday at 4 p.m. “We support a boycott on Belgian waffles,” a rep for Waffle House told TMZ. “We support America,” they added, to clear up any lingering doubts. “We don’t support Belgian waffles.” The campaign has spilled to Twitter, where the restaurant has been Tweeting all manner of patriotic materials, including the above image, and the simple mantra shown below.
