TAYLOR AND NICKI DUETTED
TAYLOR'S 'BAD BLOOD' CREW JOINED HER ON STAGE
NICKI CALLED MILEY OUT
Drama was brewing between VMAs host Miley Cyrus and Minaj earlier this week, when Cyrus called the rapper “not too kind” in an interview with the New York Times. Minaj retaliated while accepting the award for Best Hip-Hop Video, starting with, “Now, back to this b—- that had a lot to say about me the other day in the press.” Within seconds, though, she was letting it all out: “Miley, what’s good?!” Cyrus was quick to defend herself, implying her words had been manipulated by the Times. The Internet was torn on whether or not the drama was real – you be the judge.
JUSTIN BIEBER CRIED
Oh Justin, how you continue to redeem yourself. After performing his new single, “What Do You Mean,” Bieber couldn’t help but break down in tears as he was met with tons of applause. Perhaps the best is yet to come for the teen icon (really, it couldn’t get much worse).
KANYE FAKED US OUT DURING TAYLOR'S SPEECH
TAYLOR PRESENTED KANYE WITH HIS AWARD
Further proving the friendship between the two, Swift later got up on stage to present West with the much-coveted Video Vanguard Award. Of course, the 2009 incident was mentioned, but it was all in good fun, as Swift said that West has had “one of the greatest careers of all time!”
MILEY GOT NEARLY NAKED … A LOT
Cyrus is known for a lot of things: sticking her tongue out, smoking weed, twerking – and stripping down is one of them. As the host of this year’s VMAs, she delivered, with lots of barely there outfits, including silver-nipple-covering suspenders, a white stomach-and-hip-baring dress and a plastic dress with censor dots.
KANYE WENT ON A 10-MINUTE RANT
Miley got naked, Taylor won a lot of awards and Bieber cried. But nothing topped Kanye’s acceptance speech for the Video Vanguard Award, in which he sort of apologized to Taylor, dropped some sweet anecdotes about his daughter North and admitted to smoking pot pre-show. Highlight of the night.
MILEY DROPPED A NEW ALBUM
Miley’s performance with Robin Thicke at the 2013 VMAs is one of the show’s best-remembered moments. And her 2015 performance of her new song “Dooo It,” filled with lyrics like “I smoke pot” and “I ain’t no hippie” and punctuated with the announcement of a new (and free!) album, came pretty close to topping it.
