It didn’t take Ne-Yo long to settle on a location for his latest music video (hint: he was already working there!), and he is giving PEOPLE.com a behind-the-scenes peek at the action.

The R&B singer-songwriter, who has been filming the Tuskegee airmen film Red Tails alongside Terrence Howard and Cuba Gooding Jr. in Prague, tells PEOPLE that choosing a locale to make the video for his song, “Part of the List,” was a no-brainer.

“I knew I had to hurry up and get my video done, and I was already here, so I said, ‘How about you guys come out here to shoot the video?’ Ne-Yo, 29, says. “It’s a beautiful city, and it made a gorgeous backdrop for the video. It’s a beautiful site to see with all of the architecture.”

But one aspect of the exotic Czech Republic shoot wasn’t so ideal: the weather. “It was damn freezing! Ne-Yo says. “They wanted to shoot scenes off the bridge, right next to the water – it was very, very chilly.”

Despite the conditions, Ne-Yo and his sexy video co-star, Bre Joyner, wrapped the shoot in just two days – with a little bit of help. “In between takes we would wrap ourselves in blankets and wait for them to set up the next shot,” says Ne-Yo

In the video, the singer and an ex-girlfriend reconnect at a record store in Prague, where he is vacationing with his current girlfriend, and “old sparks begin to fly,” says Ne-Yo.

Come back to PEOPLE.com on Monday, April 20, for the exclusive full-length debut of “Part of the List.”
