Vegas vs. Mexico!
ELLEN & DON
"We got married at the Graceland Wedding Chapel with Elvis serenading us. When
we exchanged vows, he asked Don to take his 'lil darling' to be his wife and
me to take this 'hound dog' to be my husband," says the Seabrook, Texas, native
of her 1995 Las Vegas wedding. "I have ''lil darlin'' engraved in my wedding
band and Don has 'hound dog' engraved in his. We were then pronounced, 'a
hunka, hunka burning love.'"
NATALIA & JON
"For my husband Jon and me the most important thing was to have our family and
close friends by our side, and to have a great time with a no-stress wedding,"
says St. Louis, Mo., bride Natalia of her wedding in Playa del Carmen,
Mexico. "The resort took care of all of the arrangements for us. So all we had
left to do is to enjoy the time with our guests. We got married in front of
the ocean at sunset. It was exactly like I dreamed about since I fell in love
with my husband."
ROSEMARY & GEO
After getting married by an Elvis impersonator, this Louisville, Ohio, couple
hit the town."We then hit the Vegas Strip in full wedding apparel," says Geo,
"We went on a gondola ride inside the Venetian and rode the roller coaster at
New York New York. At the Stratosphere, Rose discovered she had a fear of
heights, but that didn't stop us from going to the top to ride the roller
ANDRA & JAMIE
"My husband and I entered a local newspaper contest to 'win a destination
wedding,' even though we weren't officially engaged yet," admits the Alberta,
Canada, bride. "Lo and behold, we won! Only trouble was, we had
three months to plan the entire thing and still get engaged!" But
things worked out for the couple, who wed in Nuevo Vallarta in 2006. "About
25 people came down to Mexico with us, and we had a spectacular wedding
underneath a gazebo overlooking the ocean. It was such an amazingly beautiful
and relaxed ceremony."
SUSAN & BRANDON
"[For] our ten-year anniversary, we flew to Vegas amp re-married with
Elvis," Susan writes in. But luck didn't rub off on the Atascadero,
Calif., couple. "The trouble started when our flight home got canceled. We
rented a car to drive through the night to get home. The rental had seen
better days. When we got on the freeway, my car door wouldn't stay shut. In
desperation, I took off my bra, wrapped it around the door handle and back
around my headrest." It worked!
ERIN & SCOTT
"Scott asked me to marry him while we were vacationing in Isla Mujeres,
Mexico, a tiny island off the tip of the Yucatan," says Arlington Heights,
Ill., bride Erin. "We knew immediately that we wanted to say our 'I dos' in
that magical place, and we wanted our family and friends to be there with us.
Twenty three of them stood on the beach while Scott and I promised to love and cherish each other forever."
CATHERINE & FRED
"I had a great idea to rent a motorcycle and get married in the drive-thru
[wedding chapel,]" says White Lake, Mich., bride Catherine, who tied
the knot last July 4 in Las Vegas. "It was 100 degrees already at 11:00 A.M.,
but it was great. After that, we took a ride on the Harley out to Red Rock. Things are still going great and we still ride every chance we get!"
KATIE SUE & SCOTT
"Seventeen people, including our parents, siblings, and a few close friends, joined us
for the most amazing wedding week," says Antioch, Tenn., bride Katie Sue. "We
were married at the Allegro Resort at sunset. I realized the night before that I had forgotten my veil, and the day of the wedding was extremely windy, but the most important people were there
with us, and nothing could have dampened the spirit of the day!"
TANYA & JIM
"My husband Jim and I, along with our best friends, decided to have a double
wedding in a helicopter over the Las Vegas Strip at night. It was the coolest
and most unusual wedding," says the Great Falls, Mont., bride. "The wedding
ceremony was short and sweet, but the view was fantastic. We started at the
airport and were flown up to Freemont street and back. Everyone who asks us
about our wedding are shocked that we were married in a helicopter!"
HUMBERTO & AMANDA
"My husband and I were joined by 35 of our closest friends and family for a
weekend-long celebration in Puerto Vallarta," says the Houston, Texas, native
of her February wedding. "We said our vows and partied into the night at a
holistic spa over looking the city and Banderas Bay."

Vegas is flashy and fun, but Mexico's so romantic.
