Taylor Swift‘s opening act is going out on his own!

Vance Joy, 27, announced his headlining tour on Wednesday. The Australian singer’s solo jaunt follows up his appearances on Swift’s stage at her 1989 concerts and the release of his new single “Fire and the Flood” this summer.

As the “Riptide” performer prepares for his next chapter, he’s looking back at the opportunity Swift has given him. In a video diary released on YouTube, Joy shares his perspective from the spotlight and takes fans behind the scenes of Swift’s tour.

During an interview with PEOPLE in March, Joy reflected on how he got his start with Swift. “I met her, I think, at the end of last year,” he said. “She just released her album and she was doing the David Letterman show. She invited me and my managers down to meet her and her team in her van. She came in and totally made me feel at ease immediately. We were just talking about getting to go on tour together and how exciting it’s going to be. That was a cool day.”
