Val Kilmer Says He Has 'No Cancer Whatsoever' and Hasn't Spoken to Michael Douglas in 2 Years

"I still have a swollen tongue and am rehabbing steadily," Kilmer explained

Despite recent rumors about his health, Val Kilmer says he has “no cancer whatsoever.”

Kilmer addressed the reports that he is battling cancer on Facebook Tuesday, and also gave an update on his current physical condition.

After being referred to a specialist to get a diagnosis for a lump on his throat, Kilmer says he was declared cancer-free by a team at UCLA. “I still have a swollen tongue and am rehabbing steadily,” the 56-year-old actor wrote in his post.

On Sunday, Michael Douglas, who beat stage 4 oral cancer in 2013, spoke at a Q&A in London where he talked about Kilmer battling oral cancer. “Things don’t look too good for him. My prayers are with him. That’s why you haven’t heard too much from Val lately,” Douglas, 72, said.

However, Kilmer said in his post that he hasn’t spoken to his onetime costar in nearly two years.

“I love Michael Douglas but he is misinformed,” the Top Gun star wrote. “The last time I spoke to him was almost two years ago, when I asked him for a referral for a specialist to get a diagnosis for a lump in my throat, which prevented me from continuing a tour of my play CITIZEN TWAIN. I ended up using a team at UCLA and have no cancer whatsoever.”

In October 2015, Kilmer vehemently denied that he had a tumor after being spotted at the UCLA Medial Center. Months later in December, rumors of a health problem for Kilmer circulated when he was seen with what looked to be a tracheostomy tube around his neck. He was also spotted on multiple occasions covering his neck with scarves and bandanas.

Earlier this year, the actor was photographed running errands in London without any breathing aid.

He also spoke about how his faith as a Christian Scientist played into his health.

“Some fans have mistakenly thought my silence about my personal issues meant that somehow I wasn’t being responsible to my health, because of my reliance on prayer and Love. Nothing could be further from the truth,” Kilmer continued in his latest Facebook post.

“Whatever led Michael Douglas to speculate about my health, he’s a loving and devoted friend to a privileged group of talent people around the world, and I’m sure he meant no harm,” he explained.

Kilmer also proudly shared that he’s made “three films in the last year,” including a new project titled Citizen Twain.

He concluded, “Being healthy and having the respect of my peers and love from my family, friends, peers and fans is a DAILY source of inspiration, for which I am so grateful, you have no idea.”
