R&B star Usher made the most of his trip to Chicago this week.

The former Voice coach visited the David Bowie Is exhibit at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Chicago while he was in was in town for a stop on his USHER: The UR Experience tour.

Usher and his kids, Usher V, 6, and Naviyd Ely, 5, went right before closing time on Sunday, and the museum accommodated him by keeping open the exhibit, a retrospective of more than 400 photos, album artwork, handwritten lyrics, original fashions, set designs and rare performance material from the past five decades of Bowie’s life.

Arriving during one of Chicago’s traditional cold spells, they all were all wearing winter coats, with Usher donning a fur hat.

The family stayed for about an hour.

“He said that he found the exhibition and Bowie himself very inspiring,” a source tells PEOPLE. “He really loved it and wanted to return to see it again.”

The family also visited the museum’s Bowie store, where the boys had fun playing with a kid-sized drum set and a guitar decorated with a Union Jack, the source says.

Other celebs have also visited the world tour of the Bowie exhibit, which is on view through Jan. 4 in Chicago, the only U.S. stop. Actress Daryl Hannah and her guy, rocker Neil Young, Chicago P.D. star Sophia Bush, Parks and Recreation‘s Aubrey Plaza and Grand Budapest Hotel actor Jason Schwartzman have all stopped by.
