Twitter Is Freaking Out over One Direction's New Surprise Single

Late Thursday night, One Direction surprised their easily excitable fans with an extremely big surprise – a brand new single.

The track, “Drag Me Down,” is the band’s first song since Zayn Malik left the group in March during the band’s world tour.

Liam Payne did the honors of announcing the news in the middle of the night – which was hardly fair to fans just getting ready to go to sleep (who now probably won’t be able to sleep for days due to their exhilaration).

Immediately, Directioners let go of any semblance of chill they’d ever had, though the overjoyed reactions truly reached their peak on Friday morning, when those who’d slept through the news woke up to find their Twitter feeds amok with feelings, GIFs and all caps.
