While a cheating scandal and sex addiction landed her eight-year marriage on the rocks, Tori Spelling appears hopeful that she and husband Dean McDermott are mending their relationship.

“As all of you know, our family has been through a lot this last year,” Spelling, 41, wrote on her website Thursday, alongside a photo with their kids. “I’m happy and proud to say that we are doing really well, and Dean and I are working very hard to make our relationship and our family better than ever.”

She went on to write: “I’m proud of Dean for all the hard work he’s been doing on himself.”

After McDermott, 47, was caught cheating on Spelling, he entered rehab for sex addiction, and the pair went to couple’s therapy – all of which was broadcast for America on their Lifetime reality series True Tori.

Spelling and McDermott have four children: Liam, 7, Stella, 6, Hattie, 2½, and Finn, 22 months.

“We’re doing okay,” Spelling told PEOPLE in June. “It’s something that’s going to take time to get through.”
