Tina Knowles Lawson Shares Her Gorgeous Wedding Album
When Tina Knowles, 61, and actor Richard Lawson, 68, tied the knot, they knew of one perfect venue: a yacht! "I used to joke with Beyoncé and Jay Z all the time because they would invite me on boats with them," says Tina, who now goes by Tina Knowles Lawson. "I'd say, 'You know, one day I'm gonna be a baller, and I'm gonna be able to take my own friends on a boat.'" Once she and Richard started dating, they spent her birthday on a yacht with friends, and started talking seriously about marriage after an adorable encounter with granddaughter Blue Ivy on another boat in September.
FOR THE GIRLS
Tina, center (with, clockwise from left: Kelly Rowland, Solange, new step-daughter Bianca, niece Angie Beynice and Beyoncé), says the all-white theme just worked. "Beyoncé started it, and then Kelly and Solange had all-white weddings. I figured we'd just keep it all in the family," says the bride, who wore Romona Keveza. "It's just elegant, and white represents the purity of love."
Tina, who met Richard 33 years ago and was friends with his late sister, says she can't wait to spend the rest of her life with him: "We both love to travel, we both love to dance, we love art, and we just have so many things in common that I feel we'll have a real happy life."
AN INSPIRATION TO OTHERS
"I want to inspire women," says Tina, who finalized her divorce from ex Matthew Knowles in 2011. "I remember having conversations with my kids and saying, 'Where am I going to meet somebody at 58 years old?'" But she didn't feel defeated for long: "I started doing the things that I loved doing again. I reconnected with old friends that made me happy. And God sent somebody into my life."
Tina – with Richard and his kids Bianca and Richard II (and Blue Ivy, 3, and Solange's son Julez, 10, who were the flower girl and ring bearer) – says having all their loved ones together in the same place "was the best feeling in the world. That was the best part of everything."
THE MAN OF HER DREAMS
What moment sticks out most to the newlywed? "Walking down the aisle was really beautiful," says Tina, who made her wan down to Richard to India.Arie's "Ready For Love." "It was sort of surreal."
The happy couple's big day was full of music and dancing – but even though they had some of the biggest chart toppers in attendance, "we didn't want them to work. That was the plan at first, then we just decided it would be better if they could relax," says Tina, who swayed to her first dance with Richard to Nat King Cole's "The Very Thought Of You." All of their children did give speeches, though: "They all spoke from the heart."
HER OWN HAPPILY EVER AFTER
"I'm looking forward to just having someone to love and support and for him to support me," says Tina of Richard. "There was a time when I doubted if I would find love again. But I was determined to be happy."
