Tina Fey Gives Birth to a Daughter

The Saturday Night Live star and her composer husband Jeff Richmond have their first child

Saturday Night Live‘s Weekend Update anchor Tina Fey has some breaking news of her own: She and her husband, SNL composer Jeff Richmond, welcomed their first child on Saturday, PEOPLE has confirmed.

Their baby girl, Alice, weighed in a 5 lbs., 7 oz. “Everybody is happy and healthy,” an NBC spokesman said of the new family.

Fey’s pregnancy was announced in April, while she was still regularly appearing at the SNL anchor desk. She continued on the show through the season finale on May 21. As for Fey’s future on SNL, an NBC spokesman tells PEOPLE: “She is slated to return to work, but we don’t know when.”

Fey, 35, and Richmond, 44, met prior to their jobs on the sketch comedy show. The dated for seven years before tying the knot in a Greek Orthodox ceremony in 2001.

Besides her regular Saturday night gig, Fey also wrote and costarred in last year’s big-screen hit Mean Girls.
