Were you aware?

If, somehow, you managed to avoid the blizzard of snow-repeated TV coverage, the flurry of Instagrams hashtagged #winter and #snow, and the deluge of Facebook posts complaining about shoveling, it’s probably because you were actually buried in a drift somewhere.

So if that’s the case, you owe Ryan McElhenny a favor. The courageous Virginia native uploaded a time-lapse video documenting the weekend’s snowfall from his back porch. Gaze in horror at his grill is slowly consumed! Thrill at the soft reflection of his orange porch light on the slowly-amassing piles! Gape appalled as McElhenny does absolutely nothing about the snow slowly taking over his porch. (We’re going to give him the benefit of the doubt and assume he was busy shoveling out front.)

Snowfall in the D.C. metropolitan area and Virginia ranged from 18 to 40 inches over the weekend, bringing much of the region to a complete standstill.
