Tim McGraw and Kenny Chesney have been in the country music biz long enough to know what fans want – and what they don’t.

“I tell you what we won’t be doing on tour – love ballad duets!” Chesney, 44, tells PEOPLE Country’s July issue. “That time of night, in a football stadium, they want it loud and fast. That’s what we’ll give them.”

The friends and touring buddies also give country fans tons of insight into their 21-year friendship in the new issue, including what Chesney thinks of McGraw’s wife, Faith Hill, what their moms have in common, and what they’ve enjoyed doing together over the years.

“Being arrested!” joked McGraw, 45. “We’ll try not to do that again.”
