After turns in The Notebook and The Time Traveler’s Wife, Rachel McAdams has the lock on serious romance onscreen – but off, it’s all fun and (dirty) games with The Vow costar Channing Tatum.

“Channing got the props department to make a prosthetic, um, member,” the actress, 33, tells U.K magazine Stella of filming the upcoming movie’s nude scene.

“Literally a fake penis. I didn’t know what to do – I thought, ‘Is that the real deal?’ It was very realistic. It was ridiculous, the scale of it!”

Laid-back life in her home province of Ontario, where McAdams still resides, consists of considerably less shock and awe.

“I feel very much at home [in Toronto],” she explains. “I ride my bike everywhere. I have my favorite restaurants.”

The actress may have to play the long-distance game with her beau (and Midnight in Paris costar) Michael Sheen, who lives in Los Angeles, but the couple are quick to remedy that situation.

“Michael and I never spend more than three weeks apart – we rack up a lot of air miles – but you have to be quite adaptable in this business whether you are in a relationship or not,” McAdams notes. “Trying to establish roots somewhere is a bit of a joke.”
