Actress Anne Heche was reportedly hospitalized after she wandered confused and disoriented down a remote dirt road before seeking help from a farm worker’s family in rural western Fresno County, Calif., over the weekend, sheriff’s officials told the Fresno Bee newspaper. The incident occurred only hours after Heche and comedian Ellen DeGeneres released a statement that the two have dissolved their 3 1/2-year relationship amicably. According to the Bee and local Fresno TV stations, Heche abandoned her Toyota sport utility vehicle and walked about a mile before arriving at the home, where residents called the sheriff’s office for help. Sheriff’s officials confirmed that they arrived with an ambulance and took Heche to a University Medical Center. “We determined that there was a medical problem,” said a spokesman, who did not elaborate. (Hospital officials, however, said no one by the name of Anne Heche was admitted or treated.) The sheriff’s office also told the Bee that they contacted Heche’s agent (who arranged to pick up the actress’ abandoned car) and that there is no criminal investigation underway. On Monday morning, Heche was photographed at Los Angeles International Airport boarding a plane for Toronto, where she’s filming “John Q,” a movie starring Denzel Washington.
