No Thanksgiving spread would be complete without a side of sweet and creamy candied yams. But what to do with the leftovers? Here’s a thought: why not mix it up with a drink inspired by the favorite dish?
The Candied Yam cocktail was cooked up by the mixologists at Bulldog Gin as part of a series of drinks inspired by the fall season. Others also include savory ingredients such as kale, beets and tomatoes – all of which may be surprising to find in a drink.

The Candied Yam
1½ oz gin (Bulldog is preferred)
1 oz roasted sweet potato puree
½ oz. hazelnut liqueur
½ oz. simple syrup
½ oz fresh lemon juice
Dash of vanilla extract
Twist of lemon
Shake all ingredients vigorously and strain into a rocks glass over fresh ice. Garnish with a lemon twist.
