Tessa Wins Andy's Heart on The Bachelor
"Officer and gentleman" Andy Baldwin proposes to the San Francisco social worker
The lucky lady to win the heart – and a marriage proposal – from Bachelor Andy Baldwin is … Tessa Horst.
Horst, 26, a social worker from San Francisco, edged out research coordinator Bevin Powers, 28, on Monday night’s two-hour finale of ABC’s The Bachelor: Officer and a Gentleman.
Baldwin, 30, a surgeon and Navy lieutenant, and Horst had their last date at Pearl Harbor, Hawaii, where Baldwin is stationed. “You took the risk of keeping me here even if I wasn’t totally opening up right away,” Horst told Baldwin.
“This experience has been about taking that step, taking that risk,” she continued. “I’m in love with you, and I want to be here.”
Because it was Baldwin’s 30th birthday, Horst then gave him a collage of mementos she’d created from their time together. “I freakin’ love you, you know that?” a teary-eyed Baldwin said.
The proposal was only the second time a Bachelor has asked his chosen lady to marry him in the last seven seasons of the show, E! News reports. But Baldwin had let it slip back in March that he’d popped the question.
“I’m so glad I did it because I am so in love,” he said during an appearance on The View. “It worked. I’m smitten. … I can’t get her out of my mind. I met the love of my life and I’m so happy.”
One person probably not sharing his joy is Bevin Powers. “I want you to know that this is not a rejection at all, but there is somebody who has touched my heart deeper,” Baldwin told the Palo Alto, Calif., native. “I will never, ever forget you.”
