Teri Polo Files for Bankruptcy
The Fosters star has nearly a million dollars in debt, according to court documents
Teri Polo has filed for bankruptcy.
The Fosters star’s Chapter 11 filing shows that she is nearly a million dollars in debt, with the bulk of that owed to the IRS along with some credit card debt, PEOPLE confirms.
The actress, 44, owes nearly $772,000 in income tax and almost $37,000 in credit card debt, according to her petition filed on April 14 with a Los Angeles court. She claims to have less than $50,000 in assets.
In addition, a landlord claims Polo owes $30,000 for not properly cleaning up after her pets before moving out of a rental home in Los Angeles, TMZ reports. She disputes this claim, according to the bankruptcy filing.
The actress has recently completed two films, Authors Anonymous and A Bit of Bad Luck and is best known for her role in Meet the Parents.
ABC Family had no comment on the lawsuit, while a rep for Polo did not respond to PEOPLE’s request for comment.
